Application Deadline

We’re currently accepting applications and will be reviewing them in the order they’re received. We’ll accept applications until Thursday, March 28, 2024, at 11:59 p.m. Pacific Time, or until the program fills, whichever comes first.

Application Steps

Step 1: Gather the following materials

  • A brief letter (250-word maximum) that describes your relevant experience, transferable skills, knowledge of the field and commitment to professional growth, and includes a statement that you've completed the SQL Self-Test
  • A resume that highlights how your education and any applicable experience fulfill the program’s admission requirements

Step 2: Apply

Complete your application and submit the materials listed in step 1.

Pay the $50 nonrefundable application fee. In one to two business days, you’ll get an email with a link to pay your fee.

After Applying

We’ll contact you within two weeks of receiving your application materials to let you know if you’ve been accepted to the program.

If you’re accepted, we’ll send you details about your first-term course, including information on how to register and pay your course fees. To ensure your spot in class, we recommend that you register by the priority registration deadline, which is four weeks before class begins. After that time, we may release your seat to another student. The final registration deadline is two days before the first class meeting.

​ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

To apply, you must have:

  • Two years of college
  • Two years of experience working in an organization or in the public sector
  • Basic knowledge of SQL and an understanding of database applications and relational databases, as demonstrated by successful completion of the SQL assessment (part of thte application). Those who need help meeting this requirement should consider taking the Foundations of Databases & SQL Programming course first. 
  • A solid background in statistics, including a basic conceptual knowledge and familiarity with statistical concepts such as standard deviation, types of distributions, and confidence intervals.

Time Commitment

Including time in class, you should expect to spend about 9 to 11 hours each week on coursework.

English Proficiency

If English is not your native language, you should have at least intermediate English skills to enroll. To see if you qualify, make sure you are at the B2 level on the CEFR self-assessment grid. To learn more, see English Language Proficiency Requirements – Noncredit Programs.

Technology Requirements

Classroom students will need:

  • Access to a computer with a recent Windows operating system (XP or later)
  • High-speed internet connection (recommended)

Online students will need:

  • Access to a computer with a recent Windows operating system (XP or later) and web browser
  • High-speed internet connection
  • Headset and webcam (recommended)
